The Hounds of Herne
Brian dubbed this as a Pagan skiffle band, because of our eclectic use of melodies, rhythms, and instruments. Most of our material was original, else it borrowed from traditional music from around the world - Greek, Pontic, Middle Eastern, Puerto Rican, Nyabinghi, and West African !
It was a short lived band - maybe a year or so. Around 1988 or 1989. We practiced, we did a public gig at an esoteric bookstore on Long Island (Hicksville? Farmingdale? maybe?), a big moment was when we were invited to play at a Samhain/Halloween multiband gig at The Wetlands in downtown NY City. As these things go, everything was running late and we were waiting around and waiting around. At some point, we talked about: should we stay or go? We decided to go and leave our big chance for fame and fortune behind....
Band members: Brian, Demetri, Raven, Emily, Larry Galian. I forget if there was anyone else.
The first recording is from our bookstore gig. That and the second recording of a practice, was recorded on a small cassette player, and digitized from the 30+ year old cassette.
Anyone have any pictures of us?
